So, the moral of this story is that it pays to take the occasional looking-at-hat-porn-on-Etsy internet breaks. I was just sitting down for a 5-minute dose of addiction in between room cleanings last week when I saw - *gasp* - a couture Dache hat! And not only was it an amazing hat by an amazing milliner, but it was...are you ready?...a BIRDIE HAT!!!
The hat is a 1950s cocktail hat, covered in fabric grapes and flowers, with an amazing faux bird on the side! Pictures do not do this hat justice. I can see why the high-end Lilly Dache hats are so sought after! WOW!
I'll try to get
better pictures when I'm not crazed and busy with guests, but look at
that birdie (Oh, how I love faux birdies!)! The feathers actually have a bit of an iridescent sheen to
them, which makes them gorgeous in the light. I had a hard time getting a
decent picture of the label, but have linked to a picture of the label
on the VFG website:http:// vintagefashionguild.org/files/ images/ _medium_vintagefashionguild_763 1.jpg
